Choquequirao Trek 4 days: The archeological site of Choqueruirao is a part of a complex system of Andean cities in the Valley of Vilacabamba. During Incan times, this was connected to Machu Picchu through a complex system of pathways.
This is situated in the foothill of the area of Salkantay at 3,035 meters above sea level. Surrounded by the snowy mountains Apus de Yanama, Ampay, Choquetacarpo, Pumasillo, and Panta, on the right side of the Apurimac River in the district of Santa Teresa, a providence part of the department of Cusco.
Program Choquequirao Trek 4 days:
Tours Day 1 – Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca
We leave cusco at 05:00, arriving at the town of Cachora in four hours approximately. Then we organize our equipment on mules and horses, and we begin our trek. From this site you can appreciate the majestic Padrayo and Wayna Cachora snowy peaks. You can appreciate the beautiful change of scenery from the precipices to the snowy mountains.
On the way we will be able ot observe the Apurimac Canyon with its impressive depth and in Santa Rosa we will put together our campsite. On this day we will pass the small areas of La Colmena (2870 meters), Cocamasana (2330 meters), Mirador de Capuliyoc (2285 meters), then we continue until our next campsite which is in Chiquisaca (1950 meters) a place in the forest where we can find water, Playa Rosalina.
Tours Day 2 – Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina – Santa rosa – Marampata
Early in the morning after breakfast, we continue our trek descending until Playa Rosalina (Rosalina Beach), and then ascend until our next campsite which is Marampata, where then after our lunch we will head to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao, a perfect moment to enjoy this majestic place. We will observe this site, where we will be able to appreciate houses, terraces, and other parts in the evening of the Incan city from the road, around 3 in the afternoon (depending on the weather) we will be able to appreciate the Flight of the Condors.
Choquequirao is considered like the “last refuge of the Incan State” the last one to be explored in 1710. Our guides will explain to you the importance of this site. We will camp and have dinner.
Tours Day 3 – Marampata – Chiquisqa
After our early breakfast, we will leave Choquekirao and descend to return to Chiquisqa. We will observe one more time the Apurimac Canyon, the exuberant greenery, its flowers and orchids. The trek will take approximately six hours at an altitude of 2022 – 1950 meters above sea level. Passing small settlements on the way. We will pass through Santa Rosa, where we will have our lunch and then we will continue to Chiquisqa, where we will spend the night.
Tours Day 4 – Chiquisqa – Cachora – Cusco
Early in the morning after breakfast (5:00 am), we continue our return trip back to the town of Cachora. During the trekwe will be able to appreciate again the majestic Padrayoc snowcap that decorates Apurimac Canyon.
The trek to get to Cachora is approximately 6 hours. Then we return to Cusco arriving at approximately at 21:00 hours.
