Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 days: It is an adventure alng the Sacred Valley of the Incas passing through the pasture regions rich in the area surrounding Urubamba, as we cross through snowcaps and subtropical valleys. Along the trip we will enjoy scenic lakes, thermal baths, Incan remains. For being such a remote place in the area, it has allowed its people to preserve traditions of the needlework of yarn made from llama and alpaca. The potato plantations, and the needlework of the colorful clothing that are made by hand and with Incan designs. In this tour we get to see the lives of the inhabitants, so close to their customs and livelihood of an Andean community member.
Itinerary Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 days:
Tours First Day Cusco – Calca – Lares – Wacahuasi
Transfer from the hotel at 4:00am to begin our adventure across the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we arrive at the thermal baths of Lares. On our way we will be able to appreciate the majestic sacred valley with its many fertile grounds. After, we will arrive to the small Villa de Calca (at 2940 meters), and then ascending, passing through small homes of Totora and Maucapata. Finally arriving after four hours to Lares (at 3200 meters) and then visiting the thermal baths. After lunch, once we contact our horsemen we will begin our walk arriving to our first campsite in four hours in Wacawasi (at 3600 meters).
Tours Second Day Wacahuasi – Ipsacocha – Patacancha
After breakfast, we will begin our walk toward our second campsite. On this day we will begin early because we will be ascending passing through the Abra Ipsay. On the way we will appreciate different small communities of fieldworkers and their customs, such as the needlework they use for their clothing used daily. We will arrive at the lake of Ipsaycocha, a place where we will have lunch. After a short nap, we will continue toward Patacancha where we will spend the second night.
Tours Third Day Patacancha – Willoq – Ollantaytambo
After breakfast we will continue with our trek toward the small town of Willoq, which has some very original customs. We will also pass through small towns during our walk. We will be able to observe archaeological ruins of Qochapata and Pumamarca to look at the famous Incan terraces. Approximately at 2:00pm we will arrive to the town of Ollantaytambo, located at the edges of the Vilcanota river, a very fertile valley, this ancient Incan location is considered one of the living museums of the world. After lunch we will have free time until 7:30pm, when we will be taking the train toward Aguas Calientes and spend the last night in a place with a private bath and hot water. (This last point can be moved according with the train times, because it is made according to availability of the Peru Rail. The time of 12:30pm is also considered.)
Tours Fourth Day: Trek to Machu Picchu
Very early, we will be walking toward Machu Picchu to be able to see the sunrise ad then have a guided tour through all of the sanctuary. Approximately 2:30 minutes. After which we will have free time until 3:00pm and at 4:00pm we will board the train to return to Cusco.
